Jeff Borchardt graduated from Maranatha Baptist Academy in 1975 and from MBU in 1979. After playing basketball for four years for Maranatha, Borchardt registered 1,097 points in just 98 games. Over the past 36 years, Jeff has coached football, basketball, baseball, and volleyball at the junior high and high school levels. He has been an integral part of the coaching staff for the Sabercats since the 2009-2010 season. Says Borchardt, “I have really enjoyed the opportunity to coach and I look forward to working with young men to grow them in the game of basketball and more importantly, in their spiritual lives.”
According to Coach Keith Salscheider, “Jeff’s dedication to the spiritual growth of our players along with his passion, expertise and technical knowledge of the game that he brings to our staff has been a key factor in building our program.” Jeff is also a proponent of Christian education and spent 30 years working in the field. Jeff now serves as pastor at Anchor Bible Church in Whitewater, WI.
Jeff has been married for 37 years to his wife Cindy ('79 Maranatha graduate), and they have 4 children. Jeffrey ('04 graduate) is a high school science teacher in a Christian school in Guam. Johnny ('05 graduate) works for a computer software company in Denver, Colo. Joel ('13 graduate) taught in a Christian school for 3 years and now is working on his masters degree. Joel was Maranatha’s leading scorer and rebounder for the 2012-2013 season and was a two-time All-American in basketball for NCCAA Division II. Jeff’s daughter Pamela ('15 graduate) played 4 years of volleyball for the Sabercats and was a two-time NCCAA All-American.
