Background

After growing up in Papua New Guinea where he had a standout soccer career with both the Men's National Team and the National Soccer League-leading Hekari United FC, Wama came to the United States to pursue a degree from Maranatha Baptist University. And to play soccer while he was at it.

Wama made an immediate impact, as he helped the team to its first NCCAA DII National Title during his sophomore year and was subsequently named an NSCAA All-American. Wama made the All-America cut again during his junior and senior years, and finished his Maranatha career with 43 goals - good enough for second all-time in program history.

Wama stayed current with the Papua New Guinea Men's National Team in 2016, as he helped them to a runner-up finish in the OFC Nations Cup - their best finish to date.

Wama is enjoying his time in the states, and in his leisure time back home he enjoys climbing coconut trees and spearfishing.
