After serving the role of team captain for two years and being one of the top players in Blue and Gold, Cournoyer joins Jeff Pill and the rest of the coaching staff for the 2018 season.

During his playing career, Cournoyer logged 15 goals and 8 assists while playing 73 games for Maranatha. Cournoyer started every game during the 2014 NCCAA DII National Tournament, which the Sabercats won. Cournoyer's playing accolades (listed above) include AD3I, NCCAA Regional, and Wisconsin State selections.
