LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Sabercat standouts Claire Hansel and Kelsey Johnson have raked in another award to add to an already glittering collection this season.
The duo has been named as NCCAA DII All-Americans by the American Volleyball Coaches Association - an award that goes beyond their initial All-American recognition from the NCCAA. In cooperation with the NCCAA, the AVCA awards an All-America Team for both NCCAA Divisions I and II, as well as a USMC/AVCA National Coach of the Year, National Assistant Coach of the Year, and TeamSnap/AVCA National Player of the Year. NCCAA coaches are also eligible to receive the AVCA Team Academic Award and AVCA Victory Club awards.
Both Hansel and Johnson have earned the award for the first time.
Out of everyone in the NCCAA DII, only seven were named to the AVCA 1st Team, and the two from MBU mark the 10th consecutive year that a student-athlete from Maranatha has earned the highest honors from the AVCA.
