OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- There was no stopping Jonathan Book in the Sabercats' win over Northland College last week, and the Association of Division III Independents has taken notice.
The AD3I has named the senior as the Student-Athlete of the Week for his three-game showing last week. Surprisingly enough, this is the first time Book has earned the weekly award from the AD3I.
Maranatha relied on the quick guard last week, as the team went 1-2 through three difficult away games. After two disappointing losses at Cornell and North Central, the Sabercats regrouped for a balanced team win at Northland College, as they defeated the Jacks, 75-66.
It was at Northland that Book put up his first career double-double, registering a career-high 29 points and 12 rebounds. The senior also pitched in six assists, one block, and a steal, as he finished with an average of 16.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists for the week.
