WATERTOWN, Wis. -- After earning the AD3I Student-Athlete of the Month award on Tuesday, Kelsey Johnson has been named as the Pizza Hut Student-Athlete of the Month - an award given in-house to an outstanding student-athlete for a month of competition.
The junior's performances during the month of September were eye-catching, as she led the Sabercats to 11 wins during that stretch. Johnson registered 171 kills, 331 assists, 221 digs, and 21 blocks over the month, and she is in a tie for second in the NCAA for triple-doubles with five on the season.
To conclude the month, the Daggett, Michigan native recorded a noteworthy 15 kills, 22 assists, and 21 digs on Parents' Night, as the Sabercats lost a five-set thriller to MSOE. Johnson is currently second on the team in kills (185), first in assists (370), and third in digs (242).
The Sabercats will return to game action Saturday when they host Alverno College at 1:00 p.m.
