WATERTOWN, Wis. -- Kelsey Johnson lit it up with an eye-catching double-double against Grace Christian University last week, and the junior's performances have earned her a double honor.
Both the Association of Division III Independents and the National Christian College Athletic Association have named the Michigan native as the Student-Athlete of the Week, as she hit a career-high 27 points and notched 11 rebounds against Grace Christian. Johnson followed that up with nine points and nine rebounds at Faith Baptist, lifting MBU to a two-win week and scoring 18 points per game.
The double-double was the 18th of her career, and Johnson leads the Sabercats this season with 16.4 points per game. She has logged double-digit points in all but two games this season, and she had nine points in both of those "off days".
Johnson and the Sabercats will be back in action tonight at 5:00 p.m. when they face Silver Lake College. Catch the details at mbusabercats.com/composite.
